THE FILMMAKER
Sarah Francis is a Lebanese filmmaker who  grew up and studied in Beirut. Since 2005, she has been working as a freelancer for regional production companies and as researcher for regional museum productions. Her first feature film and documentary Birds of September (2013), which she directed and produced, premiered in the CPH:DOX main competition then screened in over 30 international festivals and museums including Stedelijk Museum, DOXA, among others and won several awards. As Above, So Below is her second feature film and premiered at the Berlinale Forum 2020. She is currently developing her first narrative project. 

THE RESIDENCYDuring her residency at BAR, Francis researched material for her latest feature Dead Dog (working title). She focused on writing and exploring the mental and visual landscape of the film as well as on developing the story and script.
